Hosting:

The wall interface and Admin Console are hosted by Vwalls.

Hosting is provided through iland, featuring private cloud-based servers, redundant network connections and infrastructure, 99.99% uptime, 24/7 monitoring, and off-site backups.

Capacity & Reach:

We work with an aggregated, global, PCI-compliant, CDN network.

Most of the assets are on the CDN and all user-uploaded videos are hosted on Viddler, which was built from the ground up to handle the load of millons of video plays per day. And, of course, content from flickr, youtube and twitter comes from their respective servers.

Integration:

Vwalls displays are iframed into your site.

Platform:

Maxi-Walls are built in classic asp with proprietary database structures, utilizing javascripting and ajax calls. And, of course, if you display YouTube videos in your wall, the YouTube player is flash.

Browsers Supported:

We recommend the use of the following web browsers for proper functioning and user experience of the Software: Firefox 9+, Safari 3 & 4 (PC), Safari 5 (Mac), IE 8 & 9, Chrome 12+. Our Software, or elements thereof, may not function as intended or at all on other browsers, or pursuant to the specs of your license.

Vwalls will support the current stable release of a browser and the prior version. This will start 6 months after the newest stable release has been published.

  • Example: if IE version 'x' comes out tomorrow, we will continue to support and test the previous version of IE for the next 6 months and we will make sure our displays work fully in IE version 'x' by the time we stop testing of the previous version. This does not mean that our displays will cease to work with the previous version, just that we will not be fully testing the previous version any longer.

    File Types Supported:

    Video: .h264, .h263, mpeg (1,2,4), wmv

    Audio: mp3, aac

    File containers: mov, mp4, m4v, wmv, mpg, avi, 3gp

    Images: JPG or GIF only

    Security:

    Vwalls interactive environments are hosted on the Vwalls server, not on the Licensee's site. There is no connection to your data that can be compromised. We display data that is either uploaded and approved by users, or already exists online.

    Vwalls displays and the content that is hosted by ScreenSpaces are SSL compliant. However, the content that Is served into our environments from social media sites such as YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, Google Blogs, Yahoo! News, and the like, are not SSL compliant and may not display properly, or at all, in SSL environments. Vwalls displays do not run on a Lamp/LAOP application.

    User comments (if enabled) are run through a proprietary routine that provides captcha-level spam protection, without requiring user interaction.

    Plugins and Cookies:

    No plug-ins. No cookies are required for the wall to operate.

    Javascript Libraries:

    We use a number of custom javascript libraries and a modified version of wz.tooltip.js.

    Containment:

    All wall-related activities are completely contained within the iframe. We do not jump into the browser window.

    Weight/Load Size:

    Generally 2.5-6MB initial load, depending on upon numerous factors, including, but not limited to, size, design and feature set, composition of the data-types being published, the thumbnail grid layout, and the number of sets of assigned spaces included in the initial load.
